Midnight Positivity Ritual

I know I’ve talked about thankfulness before, but I think it’s worth reminding you about it again.

Here’s a little video from Mindvalley with a twist that you might find useful:

The ‘Midnight Positivity Ritual’ – How To Make Gratitude Your Default Setting | Dr. Srikumar Rao

I must admit that I don’t actually do this myself before I go to bed.

But I do first thing in the morning and during the day whenever I can.

I can’t stress this enough:

Being thankful is probably the most important habit to get into if you want to develop a positive mindset.

You may think you’ve got nothing to be thankful for, but if you sit down for a moment, I’m sure you can come up with something.

And then something else.

And then….

And then….

And just being thankful once in a blue moon isn’t good enough. You need to make it a habit.

‘We are what we repeatedly do,’ as Aristotle said.

And it’s not enough to think thankful, you’ve got to feel it, as the good doctor in the video says.

You may start without much enthusiasm, but that will come if you keep it up.

And you may wonder to whom you should say that you’re thankful.

It can be God, the Force, Father Christmas, your life compagnon, your pet or even just yourself.

Just do it.

It will force you to look outwards rather than inwards.

It will put all your troubles into perspective.

And I guarantee you’ll feel happier about yourself and your life and those around you will be happier with you too.

Being Thankful

151215

Sunrise from my back door, 15th December 2015

A couple of years ago, I heard a talk during a Hay House Summit event by a speaker who suggested that we try to find ten things to be thankful for each and every day.

While I don’t always get to ten, I do try to stop and appreciate the beautiful things in life.  It doesn’t matter whether you believe in God, the Force or Father Christmas, the act of being thankful is a great way of encouraging your spiritual and emotional health.  It’s so easy to get caught up in the routine, the worries of the day and to concentrate on the things that aren’t as we wish.  Making the effort to stand back for a moment and really appreciate something – anything – and mentally say ‘thank you’ reminds us of the positive things in life and puts everything into perspective.

So start with saying thank you for one thing a day and who knows, you might end up by being grateful for ten things a day sooner than you think.

Remember: no matter how hard (you think) your life may be, there’s always something to be grateful for.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Love

Richard
